Simon Acres Recruitment are seeking a HR Assistant to work for an established and growing business in the Southampton area, if you consider yourself a great people person who is passionate about supporting your team then this may be the next career opportunity for you!


You main duties will involve;

  • Being the first point of contact for HR queries, and managing the HR inbox
  • Onboarding new employees; creating offer letters and conducting inductions
  • HR Admin; change of role letters, benefits admin, and processing leavers
  • Supporting payroll; ensuring timely flow of information
  • Updating and improvement of the various software packages
  • Supporting recruitment; liaising with agencies and preparing adverts
  • Providing support to the HR team on a wide range of projects


Although the main focus of this role is HR, you will also provide support to their Operations Team including; 

  • The co-ordination of compliance training; lorry licences/First Aid/Fire Marshall etc
  • Induction training; E-learning, certificate checking & documentation follow up
  • Relief driver paperwork; timesheets/overtime/travel overtime/finance log
  • Ordering Head Office supplies i.e., stationery
  • Managing the mailbox, and post


To be successful you will need;

  • To be inquisitive, ask questions and have a real desire to learn
  • To be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • To be process driven; there’s lots of information to flow around the business
  • A willingness to “muck-in” with whatever needs doing including volunteering
  • A friendly approach and build relationships with HR’s customers easily
  • A proactive approach to work – you get things done and use initiative
  • To be competent in a variety of I.T. software
  • Previous experience in an HR Administration/Assistant role is desirable
  • Advanced use of grammar, attention to detail
  • Previous experience working in an HR team is an advantage, but the behaviours are more important to them, and they will teach the rest
